Kingfish seminar - A fundraising opportunity

Kingfish seminars are becoming popular amongst recreational fishers as more people want to up skill and beat these beasts of beauty and trickery. Recently we hosted an evening for the public to attend and listen to Mavis from Coromandel Safaris and Matt Watson tell us their secrets. Topics ranged from light tackle fishing tactics to hard out land-based kingfish battles.

After an informative session from both of our speakers we held an auction to raise money for option4. option4 have been working to secure the right of the public to go fishing for food for over three years. In that time we have had a number of occasions when the conversation came around to what we could do to help.

After a ring around some wholesalers, good mates and a few not so good mates we gathered together a great bunch of goods. Prizes were kindly donated by a number of wholesalers and the bidders gladly snapped these up.

Proceeds from the auction have been finalised and we are proud to announce that over $300 has been donated to the option4 Fighting Fund. As Manager of the team at Auckland Fishing Tackle I was proud of the effort the team put in to make this a success. The challenge is now out to all the other retailers and clubs to do the same or better. Pat Langevad.
